Brittany Murphy's Death Ruled Normal
"As the coroner said, there's no foul play." Says Brittany’s ex husband Simon Monjack.
"No one's criminally liable here because this has been ruled an accident." Says Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.
Brittany Murphy, age 32, died from multiple drug intoxication, pneumonia and "iron deficiency anemia" in what the coroner has concluded was an accidental death. Murphy was found dead by her husband and mother in Murphy’s Hollywood Hills home December 20th, 2009.
She was "not that ill," her husband Simon said. "She wasn't coughing up. I've had pneumonia and coughed up handfuls of spittle. So yeah, everything surprised us, everything."
No illegal drugs were found in her system.
Assistant Chief Winter went on to say, ”This was a case of a person with pneumonia who was anemic (having a low blood count) who was taking medication when she should've been getting medical treatment."
Winter confirms that no illegal drugs were found in the actress's system: "It was only prescription and over-the-counter meds," he said.
