If you know anything about Sam Raimi, this shouldn't come as that much of a surprise, but it is awesome nonetheless. Bruce Campbell, most famous for his portrayal of Ash in the Evil Dead films (but also known for The Adventures of Brisco County Jr., Burn Notice, Xena, Hercules, and much more), is joining the cast of Raimi's upcoming Oz: The Great and Powerful. What role he'll be playing is unknown to even Campbell, but it's a pivotal one, according to the actor's tweet.
"I. Am. In. Oz. Sam Raimi refuses to tell me what character I will portray. Just know that the role is PIVOTAL."
This is far from the first time that the two have worked together. It is, roughly, the twelfth time they've worked together.
Bruce Campbell joins James Franco (127 Hours), who will play the titular Oz, and Mila Kunis (Friends with Benefits), Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine), and Rachel Weisz (The Mummy), the three of which will be playing witches. Zach Braff (Garden State) will play the characters Frank and Finley.
Oz: The Great and Powerful will serve as a prequel to the original, showing how the titular character came to be in power. With a supposedly fairly hefty budget, this 3D film will hopefully blow audience members away when it hits theaters on March 8, 2013.
