It's official. Daredeveil the movie will get a reboot. The film is being produced by Peter Chernin while David Scarpa has just been hired to do the writing. David has also written The Last Castle and the remake of the sci-fi classic The Day the Earth Stood Still.

If you're wondering why they're going with a relatively inexperienced writer on the remake, as am I, it might be because Fox stands to lose the rights to Daredevil if they don't use him in a movie. If you remember, the last Daredevil movie was released in 2003, seven years ago, and according to some legal mumbo jumbo, if Fox doesn't use Daredevil in a new movie soon the licensing agreement will revert ownership back to Marvel.

Marvel is now owned by Disney, by the way, which makes me wonder something else. If Disney owns Marvel when are we going to see some 3D superhero action? Personally, I think Daredevil would be the perfect superhero for 3D because he has that cane/baton thing he can wave out over the audience. I also like the irony of a movie about a blind superhero being in 3D. Heh.

For those of you that don't know the story, Daredevil attained his super powers in his own ironic twist of fate. One day, as a young boy, Matt Murdock was walking along when he saw a blind man walking in the path of a runaway truck. He saved the man by pushing him out of the way and the truck crashed. However, the truck was carrying radioactive waste which spilled on Matt's eyes giving him his heightened senses.

No news yet on who will be playing Daredevil or the plot of the film. I'm assuming it will be a retelling of the origin since it's a reboot.
