Fast and the Furious Hits Fifth Gear

Good news guys, The Fast and the Furious franchise will be getting a fifth installment which will star both Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Director Justin Lin will also return for the new movie which as of this writing does not yet have a name. A 2011 release is scheduled.

The last Fast and Furious movie that starred both Diesel and Walker went on to gross more than $155 million in the U.S. and over $343 million USD worldwide, which I'm sure made producer producer Neal Moritz very happy. Neal will also be producing this new movie.

Chris Morgan will be the writer. Chris also wrote Wanted, the last Fast and Furious movie, and Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, as well as many other films. Currently, the film's working title is Fast Five, but I don't think that will stick.

The story is rumored to revolve around Vin Deisel and Paul Walker on the run from some relentless police pursuit. Expect lots of exciting racing action to say the least.
