Mud, Now You See Me, and The Bourne Legacy Casting News
Mud, which tells the story of a fugitive trying to get back to his soul mate with the help of his teenage friend, is the latest from Jeff Nichols, the writer and director of Shotgun Stories and the upcoming Take Shelter. While not yet officially cast, Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, and Tye Sheridan are in talks to play Mud, Juniper, and the fourteen-year-old Ellis, respectively.
In Louis Leterrier's upcoming Now You See Me, a team of the world's greatest illusionists pull off a series of extraordinary bank heists while performing, sharing the profits with their audiences, while the FBI is hot on their trail. Mark Ruffalo and Amanda Seyfried are set to join Jesse Eisenberg and Melanie Laurent, Ruffalo as the head FBI Agent and Seyfried as one the criminals.
Finally, there is a film that makes me question its very existence - The Bourne Legacy. Bourne without Bourne? Say it isn't so. Fortunately, while Matt Damon isn't returning, we're still getting an all-star cast, of which Stacy Keach is now a part of. Keach joins Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Oscar Isaac, and returning cast members Joan Allen and Albert Finney.
While I'm sad that Damon isn't returning, I'm happy that they're not recasting his character but instead just making a movie without Jason Bourne. I have no doubt that with the talent involved, The Bourne Legacy will be a competent thriller, but how well it ties into the former films, we'll have to wait and see.
