Shane Salerno added Screenwriting Expo 2011
Shane Salerno to join prestigious line-up of screenwriters and filmmakers at this years Screenwriting Expo.

Television and movie scribe Shane Salerno (Armageddon, Shaft) will be joining the lineup at the Screenwriting Expo this year on September 15-18 at the Westin Los Angeles Airport. Salerno has two new films heading to screens in 2012 – Savages with Oliver Stone and Fantastic Voyage with James Cameron.
Salerno is a rarity in the business, a two-fisted screenwriter with widely successful projects on both the little screen of television and the big screen of film: from Hawaii Five-O to Shaft. Other credits include running The Story Factory, a company focused on producing screenwriters and authors. Salerno is also revered for successfully pitching and selling spec scripts to studios for over $1 million dollars – a considerable accomplishment unheard of since the days of a relatively unknown wild man who earned $3 million dollars for Basic Instinct (Joe Eszerthas).
At one point or another every scribe yearns for the director’s chair and Salerno is no different. Following in the footsteps of such notables as Diablo Cody (Juno) who will direct Lamb of God for Mandate Pictures and Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver) who has directed a string of movies from American Gigolo to Patty Hearst and Affliction, Salerno will helm Salinger – a theatrical documentary on the life of Catch in the Rye author J.D Salinger.
Salerno began his career on an invite from Gregory Hoblit to apprentice as a writer/director on NYPD Blue. What followed was a long list of writing credits from feature films to television and back again. His appearance is highly anticipated at the Screenwriting expo that is considered by some to be the penultimate of Hollywood opportunities for writers and filmmakers; for others the expo is an entry on a long list of possibilities with a hefty price of admission.
There is a wonderful, indepth article on Salerno at thatactionguy.wordpress.com and gointothestory.com. Check them out.
