Sylvester Stallone to star in The Tomb
The Tomb has been in "development hell" for a little while now. Antoine Fuqua, director of Training Day, was set to helm the drama with Bruce Willis set to star, until Willis left the project. Then ex-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was thinking of using The Tomb for his big comeback into acting, but instead chose to go with sheriff vs. cartel action thriller The Last Stand. To make matters worse, Fuqua then left the project to direct Eminem in the boxing drama Southpaw. That left The Tomb high and dry with no leading man and no director. Fortunately, it looks like Sly Stallone has come to the rescue.
Stallone is set to star as Ray Breslin, an authority on high security prisons. When Breslin is framed and thrown into a prison of his own design, he must find out who framed him and find a way out. It sounds like a bit of The Rock and a bit of Prison Break. With Sly in the lead role, it definitely has the potential to be a solid flick. And hopefully now that the film has secured a leading man, the producers will have an easier time finding a director.
And those of you that are bummed about Willis and Schwarzenegger leaving the project, remember that both actors will be appearing in The Expendables 2 along with Stallone.
