I need to own this movie because it addresses so many issues in my own relationship with my wife. Like Clementine and Joel, we met, fell in love, and then had a huge falling out. If we'd been able to erase the memories, I think there are times we both would have done so. We eventually started over from scratch, and found ourselves falling in love again just as we had the first time, and this time it stuck. I've got Joel's social awkwardness and tendency to be too introspective, and my wife has a lot of Clem's impulsiveness. We both fell in love with the movie the first time we saw it.
