My trick(s) of the trade? I've explained them in earlier posts
Do you have the board-game SCRABBLE? A normal SCRABBLE-game has about 100 wooden pieces, each with a letter on it. Just take out the letters you need and shuffle them around. Try making simple words, doesn't matter which words.
If you don't have that game, just make a bunch of scrap papers, write the letter(s) on them.
But as we are looking for names and not words: try making names instead of words.
With your CHRISTIAN BALE: the first name that springs to mind is BRIAN: that's because you placed RABIN in front. Which was a nice trick :-)
Re-arrange the letters from the puzzle, so to "forget" the words of that puzzle.

Try what was suggested before. I'm good with Scrabbble and letters, so I can look at a scrambed word (sometimes) and figure it out.
