Norton: Primal Fear always stood out to me, it was one of the first things I ever saw him in so when I think Norton I tend to thing of Aaron Stampler. Close seconds would be the 25th hour and American History X. The Painted Veil is one of my favourites as well, especially because it's one of his lesser known movies and in my opinion, his last great one.
Bale: When I think Bale I think Patrick Bateman so I'd have to go with American Psycho. It's one of those roles that you just couldn't see anyone else playing, period. It's a brilliant performance and in my opinion, his breakthrough role and one that got him thrust into the forefront of Hollywood. I liked him that much more when he lost all that weight for the Machinist, as well as making that movie all the more creepy, and then put on massive weight for Batman shortly afterward. Rescue Dawn was great too but seemed to be quickly forgotten considering it got great reviews.

Primal Fear: Brilliant as a murderer with split personalities.
Rounders: I don't even enjoy poker and thought this movie was phenomenal. Malcovich and Damon definitely put in their all but Norton is still the focus for me as the sleaseball friend.
25th Hour: A character study for those who hate character studies. This movie has one of my absolute favourite speeches in it and I know KILLADELFIA agrees with me. Just youtube 25th hour mirror and tell me it doesn't look great.
The Painted Veil:Great to see Norton in something at a bit of a different speed. A brilliant love story that shys away from cliches for the most part and while a bit slow at points, as a whole the movie is great.
Those, in my opinion, are his must own movies. Not must watch, but own.
