PLiteys TOP 10 Actors of ALL TIME!

Laurence Olivier
Toshiro Mifune
Daniel Day Lewis
Russell Crowe
ANthony Hopkins
Ralph Fiennes
Gerard Depardieu
Alan Rickman
Richard Burton
Gary Oldman

And honourable mention to:
Johnny Depp (almost cracked my Top 10, but Oldman sneakled in)
Val Kilmer
Cary Grant
Spencer Tracy
Chris Walken

Note: I haf a thing about period movies. I love period movies! And I find that 95% of American actors cant play convincing period at all. (By period, I mean, before the Americun Civil War, 1860s. Cowboy movies are not period.) Johnny Depp is the one true Daring Exception (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, and especially LIBERTINE) who can play any role in perhaps any time. I also find that Americun Actresses are Superior by far, playing period roles. (ie. GLENN CLOSE in Dangerous Liaisons, Julianne Moore)
As for why my Top 10 are almost all Brit, well, I think British actors have no inhibitions whatsoever: they can play gay, straight, 16th-21st century, junkies, hoors, gangsters, Shakespearean, whutever needs to be done. Cant imagine Robert DeNiro doing that.

You just do not know the depths of my Secwet Movie Brain. Heh.

And do you know who my Top 2 Living Directors are?
Ridley Scott & Ang Lee.

Thinking hard about contemporary Americun actresses who also play period wonderfully.

Theres Julianne Moore in THE IDEAL HUSBAND, Gwynnie Paltrow in EMMA and SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE.

Ughhh, completely forgot TIM ROTH. [PLite kicks out Val Kilmer, poor sod, and installs Tim Roth. PLite then demotes Alan Rickman & bumps up Timmy.]
