We have enough bloody remakes to contend with, without going back and retreading old ground with unnecessary sequels.

Not many new original sci-fi movies in recent years have been as good as the Alien movies. Not many. Plus we know the characters of Alien.
Also I always wanted to see Vincent Wards wooden Planetoid setting for Alien. If the Ridley Scott movie had of been successful, maybe we would've got to see a movie with that setting in it. But, hey ho, never mind. |

Supposedly the film Prometheus is going to have a link to the Alien series and will be set in the same universe as the Alien franchise.

Supposed to be a few giant Aliens in it.

"According to Sky Movies, Prometheus will still tie into the Alien franchise with 'space jockeys' and H.R. Giger's monsters making appearances.
"They've built the 'space jockey' cockpit at Pinewood as seen in the original Alien film, so it definitely takes place in the same world as Alien," a source is quoted as saying. "Despite that press release that seemed to indicate there were no aliens in the movie, the familiar H.R. Giger-style aliens do appear. Big ones apparently."
