Would you believe Im watching this right now. Unbelievable how well behaved people were back then. Half hour into this puppy and I gotta take a break.

I saw this film twice in the cinema, absolutley adore it though it is probably one of the most depressing things I have ever watched. And I love James McAvovy, I think he is a brilliantly talented and versatile actor, so it's always a treat to see him in a film. I've bought the book now too and can't wait to read it. I've heard the book ending differs from teh films though??

I have already seen the film and have read the novel too. In my opinion, there is not much difference between the two. Both are powerful works. Atonement, either the movie or the novel is really a great piece.

well yes Marly. The plot is very much depressing. It has put a lot of stress into me after I have seen the movie/read the novel. And yes the ending is quite different. That is where the plot has spanned into the the beginning of the 20th century
