I think this movie is way better than Blair witch project. They have very great actors and the set-up of the film is more realistic. Also the editing and effects is good. It will really shatter you.

I was really expecting alot from this movie after seeing the reviews about this being the scariest movie ever and all the internet hype about how this was the best movie since the exorcist. However after watching it I fail to see what any of this hype is about.

Theres at most 3 bits in this movie that actually scare you and one of those is a video clip that looks ALOT like the exorcist although im pretty sure its not actually footage from the film. The only way this film would be at all frightening would be if it were based on a true story (of course that would be ridiculous) or if the supposed creepy build up actually led to something happening that was actually on camera, maybe a shot of the woman with her face torn up like that video or possibly she could talk in the demons voice, it worked for the exorcist).

Whats with these hyped 'horror' movies where nothing happens and its meant to be 'creepy' whatever happened to the exorcist or the omen surely they could be remade to dick on these 'creepy' movies, and by these creepy movies i mean things like 'paranormal activity' and the 'blair witch project'.

It scared the crap out of me so I didn't really waste money seeing it but when I found out that it was all fake I was pretty disappointed. I do believe that these things happen but the fact that that it wasn't a true story is just disappointing.

I finally saw it after all the hype - highly overrated and I can't believe it made over 100 million dollars at the box office.

I honestly think i can't give a fair review of this movie, because i have watched it under the wrong conditions. Despite its tagline; "Don't watch this alone", i think i should have watched it alone. I watched this movie in full daylight, and despite i could see the big potential of the scary moments, they just didn't do it for me.
I got goosebumps from the Blair witch project, quarentine (the spanish version), the Ring (the Japanese version) and even from Signs.
I think i watch it again in half a year or so, in the right conditions, and i hope that it will have more effect on me then.
On a more positive note; I really like the final shot, i really wasn't especting that, glad i caught that before i fell asleep.

You hit the nail right on the head. Seeing alone in the dark is a must if you want to increase your chances of getting something out of it.

There were a couple different endings. Which one did you see?
Spoiler
Where she snarled at the camera?

I'm not sure you can act normally without making the film seem unrealistic though.

Agreed. There was 1 part that made me interested/excited but that was it. It was another "teen horror" where people do really dumb stuff, even when they know they shouldn't.

Spoiler
Like after the Ouiji board caught on fire.
When you see that on camera, you don't go out for dinner/drinks and then go to bed. You go get checked into a crazy hospital or something where you can have 24 hr surveillance and call in the best help. Show people your video footage and get protection.

I suppose that was inevitable. I wonder if they'd still go the cheap route with the hand held camera. I'd think the more loyal fans would prefer that of course. So if they wish to continue the same type of success, in my opinion, it would be foolish to mess with it.
