Jake was awesomely buff, good enuff! Some ancient Persian parkour by the blue-eyed one. Uh hmmm. Gemma Arterton is a convincing princess/high priestess and can ride a horse.

The rest, well... man, it's based on a video game, so credibility is the first casualty.

Nice little reference to a war fought on false intel about a certain sacred city's wmd and a nasty power monger. Persia is now called Iran, of course, so nothing like a little political currency. Okay as a bit of fluff to while away an afternoon. Wouldn't have wanted to pay for it though.

I'm curious but what would you rate this out of 10 Avril?

For eye-candy, acting and props, 8/10.

I neglected to mention Ben Kingsley's a lovely two-faced villain with eye-liner.

For plot, characterisation, dialogue, sfx and the most ridiculous deus ex machina ending of any movie ever, 2/10.

You mean too many special effects which was Jonny's reason. Or they just weren't good visually?

Seeing it was a video game spin off, you'd expect a lot of sfx. They were nothing really special, imo. More to the point is the lack of a good story to base the effects on.

I thought the fx looked bad. The sand stuff didn't even look as good as in "The Mummy", and that was over ten years ago. Even worse, it ruined the parkour because what makes that impressive to begin with is that it's real. It's a fun summer movie though.

So let me get this straight, the Prince of Persia starring an American actor with a weird British accent. That totally makes sense.

Only in America...

Truth be told, my hopes aren't high, movie-game conversions having a fairly appalling record, but I'm a big fan of Jake and, you know, sometimes it's good to shut the brain off and go along for the CGI ride.
The only video game/playstation adaption that i liked was Resident Evil as far as i remember. In fact i loved it. Milla Jovovich is such agreat badass, if she was the only one in the film with the zombies it would still be great.

I'm not sure what my comments were on Prince Of Persia, but i'm not sure whether i mentioned the special effects. In general it was a good entertaining, i thought it was a film that made you think did you hate it or love it, i'm in between.
