Agreed, i thought both were good, but the original just pips it for me

I saw the orginal maybe 2 years back and though I did think it was unique, I only figured it was good enough for one view. But I checked out the remake a few days ago after borrowing it and to my surprise, it's something I will now buy whereas I won't with the original.

I can't remember the original enough to know exactly the change but I'm certain that part where the car was rolling down the hill wasn't in there for starters. I loved the Cgi's done when the vampire girl attacked more the ending scene seemed to vary slightly. The part where one of the kid's was dragged upside down in the water was closer to the camera to add more impact to the situation. I'd actually now like to go back to see which other scenes changed here that made it more enjoyable the second time around.
I also liked the girl from Kick-Ass being in there along with the cop so that helped as well.

I saw this one a couple months back. I still haven't seen the original, but I thought this one was fantastic.
