Been trying to buy Tron - 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition, a 2 Disc set with plenty extras. But in the UK it is suddenly SOOOOOO expensive! Like ?35 on Amazon Marketplace and ?43 on Play! Anyone explain this? Or do you agree with my cynical view that it's because the new Tron Legacy film is out in December.

I bought that 3 disc set for my ex. Should've kept it for myself as she's probably not even took the cellophane off lolI notice that the Blu-ray version is 155 mins long. Is the 164 min cut only available on that SD set, and not Blu-ray?

Haha, yea-- you probably should've kept it for yourself. As for DVD vs. Blu-Ray versions-- I dunno. If so, I win ..damn, I don't even own a blu-ray player..! Damn it all..

I currently have a HD-DVD player which also upscales beautifully, but I'm going to get a Blu-ray player next Winter, cos it's really starting to annoy me that movies like Watchmen and Inglorious Basterds which I want to purchase have much better extras on Blu-ray only now. It's good marketing strategy obviously!

Oh yes, it is, obviously. But on the other hand, some releases are better on regular DVD contra Blu-Ray.. Bah. I will probably get a blu-ray player too, but not yet-- cos we don't own a HD TV-- yet..

Prices could have increased due to the new one coming out. But i think it is down to the fact that it is out of print. Do you have a multi region dvd player? If so there is are new region 1 copies(US) from £6.43. Although one time recently a seller sent me a region 1 copy rather than a region 2 copy specified and just to be sure it played in a dvd player in my living room and it worked.

There's a rumor that Disney will be putting out a Tron blu ray in November, so if you plan on getting a blu ray player this year, you might want to just wait for that. More than likely, they'll rerelease the dvd at that same time.

That's exactly how much I got my Tron: 20th Anniversary DVD for last year.

That's if they put some effort into the transfer which isn't always the case. I always check the reviews first. Gladiator is like that. You expected a pristine picture with the blu-ray but apparently, it's very below expectations. Anyways, I have a personal rule were I don't buy blu-rays I already have on DVD.

Even yesterday I saw some cheap $10 blu-rays at Wal-Mart but the video quality was between a 2.5 -3 out of 5 for all of them. Obviously why they're so cheap.

Tron is a Disney release though, and their blu rays are always top notch.

And with Gladiator, they actually went and redid the transfer and have an all new blu ray coming out: Blu-ray.com - Rumor: Remastered Gladiator Blu-ray Coming Up I'll be waiting for that one myself. Although really I liked "Kingdom Of Heaven" more.

Good point. I totally forgot about that because I heard exactly what you said there from others. I believe that 'Race to Witch Mountain' remake didn't turn out as well as it should have though regarding the transfer. One thing I always admire about Disney too is that they include the regular DVD in the blu-ray package. With the digital copy too of course.

Nice find. I hope their sources are correct though.

'Gladiator' didn't make the impact on me as it has many others but I didn't mind it. I only viewed it once in the theatre though and figured if I ever do buy it, it will be in the blu-ray format. And yes 'Kingdom Of Heaven' wasn't bad at all.

I preferred 'Troy' over both of those films though.
