I thought to myself surely there must be something good about considering all the hype, but it just turned out to be so overhyped it wasn't even fair. Just nothing interested me about it, it's quite a unique film in which i just can't pinpoint the exact reason why i disliked it so much IMO.

OK, but personally I don't think it was overhyped, well spoken of, yes-- as it rightfully deserved, IMO. But not overhyped, IMO tho. End o' discussion, heh.

I'm happy to wait for the dvd in the UK, from the US does that not mean shipping costs, custom charges galore?

Blu-rays tend to be cheaper from America if you buy them over there, but postage to the UK adds a little onto it, but compared to the UK release it's about £1 cheaper. So a design cover I like and getting it earlier, good deal.
