1. Your favourite films and a very brief description of why
- The Night of the Hunter - About the closest (behind The Shining) that Hollywood has ever come to making an arthouse-esque horror flick. I'm a sucker for beautiful imagery on film (whether it be artificial or natural) and the river scene in this is one of my favorite scenes of all time.
- Blade Runner - The artificial aesthetic aspect is used to full effect here, and the story has made for what I believe to be the quintessential cyber-noir of the cinema.
- M - It uses a slow build, and while it doesn't focus too much on the core subject of a serial killer, it does a great job of portraying the cause and effect aspect of the story.
2. Favourite genre of film
It'd be a toss up between horror and sci-fi, with psychological horror and cyberpunk being my favorite sub-genres. My taste in those sub-genres ranges everywhere from b-movies to arthouse cinema; I know no bounds. I also like it when films include elements of noir or surrealism.
3. Least favourite genre of film
I suppose romance, though there are still some romance films that I consider favorites of mine.
4. What types of movies are you looking for recommendations on? What movies do you like/dislike in that genre? I've already explored my favorite genres pretty thoroughly, and I don't expect to get many recommendations that I haven't already heard of or seen, but more obscure stuff would be best.
