4.5! Too low! I rate it 5+++! Wheeeee! It wuxia my Best Movie of 2004! Altho I am pissed Stupid Oscars didnt give it anything for Best Costume, Cinematography, Dancing wid Extra Long Sleeves!

There is more to Flying Daggers than the love story...originally. I have the production notes from the advanced screening by Sony Pictures Classics. It explains how the script went from love story + more to just plain love story. Flying Daggers is a love story because that's all there's left of it. The rest had to be jettisoned because it involves a significant character who never appeared in the film because the actor who played her died. Zhang Yimou refused to recast her, and instead adjusted the script to what you see in the movies...just a love story.

For those who want the asian version, you'll need an internationally formatted player due to the area code that each DVD is writed to, according to the country. But...considering you can buy this v. in the States, its probably already been formatted.

Our format is US format, likewise with the UK l think. Just buy a multiformat DVD player and play those foreign discs at your hearts content!

Me too!! I bought the blu-ray dvd of it. Maybe I will watch it again tonight. Did I mention I loved the end? When they do the thing at the end it makes the movie even more romantically tragic. Waahh!
