I had to leave out Ozu, Bresson, Dreyer, Spielberg, Scorsese, Wong and some other well known directors. Not that I find their films unworthy of my list, but over time my appreciation for the above mentioned directors has fallen. I'm also surprised that there are hardly any films that came before the 40s. My knowledge of cinema before the 50s is also quite limited... (I cant think of any more favourites from the 40s other than my top 10 of that decade).

^ Nice, then if you're interested you should check these out in order:
Sansho the bailiff Three crowns of the sailor A brighter summer day Valerie and her week of wonders Peking opera blues The hourglass sanatorium The Draughtsman's contract And perhaps the most challenging film on the list, Marketa Lazarova, which is similar to Andrei Rublev.

Oh, and I forgot about a few other superb movies that did not make the list:
Extraordinary Stories (2008) -Almost made my top 101. 4 hours of fascinating storytelling. The Man Who Sleeps (1974) -existential work which I can easily identify with. Siberiade (1979) The Incredibles (2004) -2nd best Pixar. Days of Being Wild (1993) -Wong Kar Wai found his visual style - loathsome characters and fancy ribbons wrapping up nothingless. La Haine (1995) - a little racist because of how it stereotyped and seemed to blame the immigrants for the social unrest in France at that time, but still damn good. Once upon a time in China (1991) -Peking Opera Blues may be the epitome of Hong Kong cinema in the 80s, Once upon a time in china is Jet Li in top form. Braveheart (1995) Street of Crocodiles (1986) Alphaville (1965) -which is probably the best Godard ive seen. He does make a lot of crappy movies though.
