The Hunger Games - It was good, but not worthy of all the hype it recieved. 7/10

God Bless America - Over the top black comedy about a terminally ill guy who decides to live out his fantasy of killing reality tv celebirties and other equally obnoxious individuals. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yes Ewan McGregor is doing well at the moment having Haywire, Perfect Sense and Beginners released. I still need to see Salmon Fishing in the Yemen which looks promising too. I'm glad someone else thinks the same way about The Hunger Games, i liked it too but had my issues with it. Let's face it, the movie was nowhere near as good as Battle Royale.

And as said before about Battle Royale/Hunger Games comparisons, very different films and target audiences...

I really liked The Hunger Games, particularly Katniss' relationships with Prim and Rue. While I could do without shaky cam, the rest of the directorial style, along with a detailed world and strong performances from the actors, made the movie evocative and believable. It lagged some near the end (a lot happened between the turning point and the climax), but the first two-thirds or so were powerful enough that the film really stood out for me. Between this and Chronicle, 2012 is off to a great start.

8.5/10

I didn't compare it to BR, I watched it with an open mind and still didn't understand all the attention it got, but I didn't read the book, so maybe I'm missing something.

Altered States on blu ray. I just love this movie and William Hurt is brilliant. I'm hoping to try a flotation tank in Tampa sometime soon but without the hallucinogens.

Yeah, but I rent, so I'm only five movies (and less than three months) in.

I think comparisons are inevitable. And i still think that Battle Royale is the better film by far. Whether they are for different target audiences i think the whole of BR more than justifies why it is better than THG, i've said this before to so not going into it again.

The Killer Inside Me. Never have i seen a film with such unneeded narration, repugnant nature and a pointless script as this. Among all the terrible qualities about the film it did have something, but still AVOID.

The Bourne Legacy. This was an intelligent, very well made extremely entertaining piece of work. It had a particular style to it which was just great to watch and it was more a stripped bare spread out type of 'action'. I really liked the way Aaron Cross was made to seem more vulnerable, but also strong like Jason Bourne. It felt like Jeremy Renner made the role his own and wasn't trying to be anybody. Rachel Weisz was great as well as the sort of love interest. Great movie.

Chronicle. Usually films can tend to change slightly with a second viewing whether it's noticing more things or the films better or worse; for me anyway, but this was just as powerful as the first time round. I loved watching the events unfolding just as if it were a first viewing. I don't recall a film ever having quite an impact as this when i left the cinema, it just felt so real and as if you could totally understand why the events would happen, even if they are near impossible. From the start you can sense that something bad is going to happen to the character's. The main character spiralling out of control and his power overcoming him is always fascinating to watch throughout and the film gives you a wide variety of emotions; anger, sadness, poignant, claustrophobic, funny and frustrated. It's very original, almost anti superhero film and for me it was fantastic.

Top of the Food Chain (1999)

I found out about this movie today, never even heard of it before, checked out the trailer and this looks like my kinda of movie.

Now that see the movie, i felt a little be let down, i didn't think it as funny as it was ment to be, there were some really funny jokes thought out the movie but nothing too funny.

There were some strange effect in this movie, trailer some how makes look better then movie, the acting is really wooden at times.

I think it was decent 50;s B movie for 90's!
