Nicolas Cage is awful, his new action movies all suck, and he's got the audacity to remake the phenomenal film Bad Lieutenant (1992).

I can guarantee you now that that remake will be a candidate for the worst remake of all-time award. Without even watching it I can tell you that now.

There's absolutely no reason to remake that film. A lot of the movies nowadays are superfluous remakes, but Bad Lieutenant? There's just no reason for it.

It'll suck worse than his retarded remake of The Wicker Man.

88 Minutes. I can't believe Al Pacino agreed to make this movie. It was awful.

I agree with you 100% Cage is a terrible actor and to remake Bad Lieutenant is a travesty, even more so with him in it.

What has happened to hollywood over the last 10 years have all the producers run out of ideas or are they just lazy?

Last movie I saw: The King Of Comedy I really love this movie, lets hope that doesnt get a remake. Ive just heard Westworld is going to be remade aswell, all I can say is, why? That why? also goes for the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still with Keanu Reeves for god sake!!! What the hell is going on.

I didn't care much for the Bad Lieutenant. I don't think Cage is awful though. I wouldn't call him a great actor either. He's one of my favourite actors more cause he's different. I enjoy his films for the most part and I'm not big on voodo themed movies. The only one I loved in that area was The Skeleton Key.

That's one I'm avoiding. It seems to get thrashed on everywhere.

I've said this a million times before but not sure why people are offended by remakes. Some are hits many are misses. Either/OR nobody who loves the original has to watch the remakes. Both films will 'Always' be out there.
I for one am looking forward to seeing The Day the Earth Stood Still remake even if I did love the original. Interesting about Westworld as well.

I preferred 'Invasion' over the two 'Invasion of the Body Snatcher' films. 3 if you count the t.v. version. Many people loved Carpenter's 'The Thing' over the original so that' another hit. Again, it's all opinion and I can't see anything wrong in continuing to make remakes. Lady Killers was brilliant. The remake that is. Same with Ocean's 11 over the original.
Batman Begins was far better imo than Keaton's version as well. Same goes for The Hulk reboot that was out this year.

The problem is the superfluous nature of a lot of remakes. The Birds, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Bad Lieutenant. . .they don't need to be remade. They have great originals, some classics and some cult classics, and they should simply be left alone.

And my .02: The original Oceans Eleven with Sinatra and the rest of the gang was superior to the remake, the Coen's The Ladykillers was painfully bad, all of the remakes of Invasion of the Body Snatchers pale in comparison to the original 1956 classic, and Batman Begins is the worst Batman movie in the franchise.

I think both Hulk's are dumb, so I'm not going to pick between two shitty films.

The 1970s TV show>All subsequent films.

I thought it was confusing and lacking a plot. I didn't like it either

I think Hollywood remakes so many movies because they're lacking original ideas, not to say they don't have any, they just don't have alot. I liked The Bad Lieutenant. Harvey Keitel was great. I can't imagine Nicholas Cage in that role.

I agree. When the well runs dry, just recreate what's proven to be successful in the past. It's the reason for remakes and formula pictures.

Just imagine a watered-down version of the film with a performance a hundred times inferior to Keitel's, a lesser script, a weaker supporting cast, and who knows? Maybe some nice camera/editing gimmicks to make it even stupider than it will inevitably end up being.

But my point though is that so what if there's another one out there. The first one if really as good as people say will still be there and hold up against the test of time. Making a second doesn't hurt it and may at times help it. What I'm saying is there are people out there who would take certain remakes over the original and if there weren't any remakes, then they'd be loosing out. Now I can understand also people who feel that the younger generation today especially will miss out on the originals because they never heard of them since there is a second film just like it out there that they only know about. However if they did their research, the movies are there to view if they desire to see them. They would have that option unlike someone wouldn't if their beloved remake was never made to begin with.

I enjoyed the House on Haunted Hill remake over the original. The original was too hokey looking.

For me 'The Lady Killers' remake had me spilling my guts laughing. Just loved all the characters.

Yeah I've only watched the 70's version. I was actually trying to find the original today but couldn't. I'll still get it one day when I happen by it.

Yea, very true. It's like Hollywood goes through different phases, now it's Superheroes. I'm tired of all the SH films nowadays. That being said, I enjoyed The Dark Knight, thanks to Heath. Anyways.
