There's not that same spontaneous energy like he had in Liar, Liar and Ace Ventura. But what else is he supposed to do? Nobody wants to see him playing serious roles.
I don't know though if he completely failed as a serious actor. He's gotten good reviews for The Majestic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and The Truman Show (1998) which I enjoyed. I even didn't mind Number 23. But yeah, it seems since he spread himself to the drama side he lost touch with his comedic side. He's only made 2 good comedies (Me, Myself & Irene, Bruce Almighty) and one decent one (Fun with Dick and Jane) in the past 9 years in my opinion.

Spoilers for Star Trek (2009)

Spoiler
- My main issue was that I thought it was rather lame no matter how emotional the Romulans get to have Nero blame Spock for the Federation not coming to their aid quick enough where their planet was destroyed in the future. He knew Spock was trying to help. I just wish Nero's reasons for revenge were better than that.

-I didn't like the new look of when they are beaming someone up. Too much going on there. The looping spiral energy beam is activated then the actual scattering of their molecules takes place about 5 seconds after that. I bet if we timed these from any movie or t.v. show, this one has to be the longest from the start till finish without any sort of malfunction going on. Actually, Spock's mom died in the movie because of this.

- Kirk became Captain too quickly.

Other than the ridiculously laughable fight scenes, this was a pretty enjoyable film.
Sorry but this is über-sacriligious!

"Raiders" commands nothing less than a 9/10. NOTHING!

I completely agree with your first point. Nero is a lame villain that serves only one purpose: To bring the crew together.
But the details of what he does to achieve this goal are irrelevant. He could be skinning tribbles to create an intergalactic line of fur apparel for all I care.

Your second point is probably the worse case of nitpicking I've ever read. Come on dude, lighten up. Its updated and it looks cool.

Point three, well, it wasn't as fast as his father at least. I agree they coul've taken an extra five to ten minutes to make this longer.

My main concern is that there were no Klingons.

Falling in Love... 9/10 there's just something about De Niro/Streep working together that gets me... it's funny to see people still using phone booths and no cell phones anywhere...

The Big Heat

My first Fritz Lang film from America. Incredible movie. This is my third true film noir after Double Indemnity and The Maltese Falcon. Seriously, it just shot onto my favorites list.

That's a good one, TFD. Glenn Ford was in a ton of Westerns but I like him best in crime films.

Fury and Hangmen Also Die! would be your best picks for follow-up films from the American portion of Lang's filmography.
