Glad you liked it. I saw this with my friend, and he said it was too slow to be interesting, but he has pretty crappy taste in movies, so...

^ I love that part with the bowling scene with 'jesus' and the Hotel California cover from the Gypsy Kings. Hell, I love the whole movie

Yep, gotta love The Dude!

Watched Lost Horizon. Amazing film for the time (1937), almost lost forever, but they have done a good job restoring it. Some of the things the Llama character says in it resonate even more strongly today. 8/10

Can see me watching some more Capra films soon.

Saw Hatchet last night. Basically great gore effects, but that it. It wouldn't have been entertaining otherwise and some of the scenes and one character in particular was so damn annoying.

If you haven't seen Arsenic and Old Lace, do it. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen and, IMO, Capra's best film.

I didn't think it was slow at all. Maybe your friend likes non-stop action movies? I thought District 9 had a good story in addition to good action scenes.

I mentioned in the Dvd/blu ray thread a couple fo minutes ago that my copy of District 9 has been dispatched from Amazon. It was only £9.98, decent length, 3 special features, sounds like a great movie. I'm looking forward to seeing what the aliens look like. You think i'll like it?

Yeah, that's exactly the reason he didn't enjoy it. I liked the build-up because the social commentary they had was quite excellent and it was one of its highlights. He doesn't like intelligent films, so of course he wouldn't like this kind of movie. It also sent some really good messages that made me think it was one of the most important movies this year.

There were some very thought provoking issues about man's intolerence and fear of the unknown, lack of empathy for the aliens, among other things, but it didn't have alot of action.
