I just watched the movie Franklyn. It's pretty slow paced, and I couldn't decide weather or not I was enjoying it until it was over because it doesn't really make any sense until the last bit. Anyways I really liked the way it was filmed so I enjoyed it over all. Definitely a different type of movie.
This is the trailer for anyone who is interested:

Yes, but the average moviegoer hates insightful, thought-provoking films, unfortunately. District 9 did employ good devices to inject these messages throughout the film, and anyone intelligent enough to appreciate it couldn't say it's bad.

Spoiler
The scene where they were using his hand to incinerate the aliens with their own weapon was one instance of it. I relished how good it was at capturing those feelings and empathizing with the main character

The script for Law Abiding Citizen is pretty different from the film. Something went wrong with Jamie Foxx's character. :L

Saw Invictus. I loved it, more of a dvd flick though. I love Morgan Freeman.

I really like thought provoking movies.
Spoiler
It was really ironic that the main character was pretty gung-ho about doing his job and doesn't realize how inhumanely the prawns were being treated until he starts to become one.

Taking Woodstock Ang Lee's follow-up to Brokeback Mountain and Lust, Caution (which I didn't see). It was about the people in the small town where the music festival Woodstock was held. Good characters, especially Emile Hirsch as a mentally wounded Vietnam vet. He's turning out to be quite a good actor.

I was hoping for a better ending as well. I don't mind that particular death but I did think it may have a brilliant twist to it rather than a 'meh' twist.

Was the ending any different?
