Because we're all extreme horror fans in this thread, and since I'd say we're all like-minded, I thought you all would share my love for it.
Ah well, it's not that important - Maybe jonny will love the movie when he's old enough to understand it. |

Old enough to understand it? Maybe thats why i hated Shutter Island. Although extreme horror fans, i would say that was just yourself, me and Escape. But i don't think my age has anything to do with what i will and wont understand at a film. Because i have a high level of intelligience where English is concerned, i think i'll be relatively the same person knowledge wise when i get older.

I wouldn't call myself an extreme horror fan, but either way, I just wasn't blown away by Candyman. The first half was meh, and the second half had some decent horror imagery but overall just fell flat for me. Both Madsen and Todd were pretty good, I was just never really engaged with the horror.

@ Jonny: But to fully grasp these type of films, it takes more than knowledge of English, especially in movies like shutter Island, District 9, and Inception - These movies inject alot of philsophical elements, and they don't have the plot laid out so easily as a horror - Moreover, your brain is still growing, and depsite what you think, your tastes will advance with your maturity.
@ B0B: But the movie wasn't supposed to have alot of action or violence in the first half and middle - The movie was just building slowly to the peak, and to preserve the marvelous ending, they obviously couldn't have the movie packed with gore in every scene - The tension it established in the first scene was ongoing for the film. Without that, the entertainment factor would be eons below what it was. Last edited by DarkMaster24; 09-04-2010 at 06:27 PM. |

Some great films there IMO. I thought for a zombie film DOTD remake was pretty inventive and well just a load of fun. It does get put down a lot. I think people who can't slvage whatever kind of entertainment in film is wrong.

While I agree it's definitely overrated, my problem is how irresponsible directors are when they make movies about the mentally ill - This movie simply adds to stereotypes about them, which gives me the impression that the director was very lazy in researching mental illness, and didn't know a thing about it. Same goes for Psycho - That explanation the doctor gave at the end about Norman's behavior was complete nonsense.

The opening of the Dawn of the Dead remake was fantastic, remember watching it on television before the film was out, showed the first 15 minutes or so on Channel 4 here in Britain. Rushed to see a preview a few months before the cinema release, yay.
