That's what I was thinking when Kinzdone brought up the past. Those old guns.

Perhaps we can see a Predator mixing it up with Wild Earp in the Wild West.
A wild west Predator film would be a bit cliche. It would have too much of a 'Back To The Future part 3' feel to it for me.
I like the idea someone had about a dystopian Blade Runner type future world.
Incidentally, that's apparently the kind of era/look the Strauss brothers are looking at for AVP3. Set in the future, but before the events on the Nostromo possibly introducing the 'pilots' as dealers that trade with the Predators. Thats an idea I always really liked to see realised in the AVP storyline so I hope its done well.
Perhaps the 'Pilot' ship was a cargo vessel transporting alien eggs for Predator use? Perhaps there was an outbreak on board and perhaps there were Predator guards on board as well that fought the aliens?
At the end of the film the ship could crash into LV429...

But that was alot of silly comedy thrown into that film. I was meaning a very serious tone. Like 'Unforgiven'. I for sure wouldn't want a Predator entering a fast draw contest lmao.

But I can see them Hunting down 'outlaws' for example. The meanest toughest, fastest villains. Or maybe have the sheriff round up a posse and go hunting this thing. Again, very dark with no comedy whatsoever.

See, I have no problem with that except I do NOT want it dark, dull and dreary like in Blade Runner. That scene just turned me off big time. So depressing. I saw it as an 10 or 11 year old on t.v. once and hated it. Then I just recently watched it last year I believe thinking that maybe it was because I was a stupid kid and would get over that rainy background scenery but all those depressing emotions came right back to me.

Yeah that would be fine with me as well. I love futuristic films. Time travel films. Anything to do with Space.

I even enjoyed Battlefield Earth.

Oh, I see. I guess if they did it really gritty and real it may work, but I'm not givinh up on Romans, Barbarians and Spartans just yet!

comedy in a predator film *huh* That's seriously lame .lol. No comedy, just dead serious killing.

i wouldnt mind predator 3 but just ask them to stop REMAKING everything. I even heard they are remaking back to the future. Geeez.......if that goes ahead then studios have sunk to an all time low.

Shows they are greedy and will do anything for money.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they didn't do a 3rd Predator movie. I didn't really like the 2nd one. AVP was pretty good but still not better than the original Predator. I would rather they leave it as is.

Ah, remakes....just to give you another headache, there is a thread here showing a poster of 'Robocop 2010' - wether that means a remake or a 'Rambo' style reintroduction I don't know. I really hope there won't be a remake, but studios are that stupid so I wouldn't put it past them.

i saw that thread and posted but the thread isnt there anymore where is it?

But man, this is awful. Remake robocop? I guess they dont realise that its not just the script that makes a film. Its also the director, actors and the crew involved.

Paul verhoven was a good director and made the film work. Under a different guy, it can easily turn out rubbish. Oh well, i guess money talks huh?

My respect for major studios is going downhill and its not coming up anytime soon.

Yeh, Its the time, crew and situations of the time the film was made that makes them unique and work well. You can't just emulate that on a whim.
Major studios are out of ideas and good writers I think these days. Most of the stuff is junk that they produce. I find myself predominantly finding little gems and downright excellent films on the DVD shelf rather than the cinema these days.
