~ The Woman in Black ~

No trailer yet, but a few images have been released from the new Hammer film. They thankfully changed their mind about the 3D and it's going to be shot normally. Don't need 3D for such a story!! There is also a film from the 80s based on the book too.

October release this year.

The Woman In Black is a wholly interesting tale that follows young solicitor Arthur Kipps(Radcliffe) as he ‘travels to rural England in order to deal with a recently deceased client’s paperwork, only to discover the vengeful ghost of a woman awaiting him’.

"The story follows a young lawyer, who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time.

The Hammer film, which is an adaptation of the successful Susan Hill novel and stage thriller of the same name, is being directed by James Watkin(Eden Lake) with the screenplay devised by Jane Goldman(Kick-Ass), and is to be released in October. Speaking of his role in the film, Radcliffe said that he was ‘incredibly excited’ to be a part of it, due to Goldman’s ‘beautifully written script’ that is ‘both tender and terrifying in equal measure’.

I saw the play when I was in school for an English class and enjoyed it. Wasn't too impressed with the TV movie version so I'll be interested to see if they manage to replicate the tone of the play which I felt was lost somewhat on screen.

Still, I'll probably wait for the DVD, if I ever do decide to watch it.

Didn't see it and plays are different than films

Play or film, it's still acting and showing what he can do, especially in a play.

I think he will be type cast for a while but then will be fine.I think he is a good actor from the Potter films at least. Will obviously have to see him in more.

I loved the TV movie from 89, and I'm hoping that this adaption will bring it some more recognition. I recall it being the only film that ever really frightened me after I became a horror fanatic.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out as well. I can never have too much Gothic horror.
