Before I get everyone all frothy and outraged, I should mention that I read an advance review of it on Ain't It Cool News, and the reviewer (which is just your average I-got-into-a-test-screening schlub rather than an official critic or whatever) speculated that some of the scenes seemed tame and they might be going for a PG-13.

Of course, the official screening didn't include finished effects, so you never know.

There hasn't been any official word that I know of.

But I'll be rightly peeosed when and if they do go PG-13.

Although Friday the 13th looked like just another part in the ongoing series, this one actually looks like a real attempt of a remake. To bad it isn't original, i saw some familiar scenes redone with computer effects and the budget is most likely a lot bigger. I am a big fan of the original movie and i still consider Robert Englund as the one and onely Freddy, so until he is burried and forgotten i stick with the original.

Plus, "Drag Me" had a comedic undercurrent, and still managed to deliver the gross-out without it being gore (the various fluids and everything else)
Yeah I agree and that makes perfect sense.

I'd like to add a couple personal favourites along with the two you mentioned and say 'The Skeleton Key' and '1408'.

Which scenes would those be?

Yes, I agree that the trailer makes it seem like this film will be one of the better remakes Hollywood has made, but seeing Michael Bay's name on the producer's chair turns me off. God, Friday the 13th sucked.

As you implied, that probably wasn't the finished film. Hopefully it will stay faithful to the rest of the series in the ratings from being R.

And guys they are saying they wanted to make this remake different. That wouldn't be the case if Robert Englund was cast again as freddy. Btw the budget is $27,000,000.

Why is anyone happy with this???
its another terrible re-boot. i like the actor, but c'mon please stop, its embarrassing to me that i cant say when i grew up movies had originality and inspired a new generation of film makers! no! its like kicking me in the face. and Haley isn't even wearing the makeup its all CGI! what is that?!
plus its combining the movies.... just watch the originals and live with them and stop trying to make b rated horror movies worse.

For me again Chef, even if they did everything almost exactly alike, so long as they change that original ending, I'll take it as being the better film. There really wasn't anything outstanding in the first version imo.

I would probably agree with this, but i'd need to rewatch the original. I've got all on boxset so it will be no problem catching up with the series.

I really really am excited about this one. I am a huge Freddy fan. One of the first horror films i ever watched. I am so happy that now a new generation can enjoy this film as much as i did when i first saw it. I am glad as well, that some old scenes are put in there that way people who have never before seen this movie will be able to appreciate the story to it more. I can't wait to see the scene when Freddy had the girl on the ceiling, with the way special effects are today it is going to be awesome. That part of the movie gave me nightmares for a very long time when i was a kid. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME, I AM EXCITED LOL. Wish it was out sooner though.
