Here's where I saw it, from the good ol boys in Austin:
One, Two, Freddy's on YouTube. Three, four, Click For More! -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.
Here's my take on remaking horror franchises: why not? Honestly, as much as Zombie's Halloween 2 stank, did it do any more damage to Michael Myers, than, say, Halloween 5, when he took off his mask and looked like a preteen Danielle Harris? Or when Busta Rhymes kicked his ass?
To me, Friday and Freddy and Halloween especially are fine for remaking, just because there have been so many sequels and reimaginings (New Nightmare, H20, Jason X, FvJ) that it's virtually another sequel. And it's kind of fun to see a new take on it, even if it does stink (TCM, the Zombie Halloweens).
I interviewed the director of "Fame" a couple of weeks back (it's on my site if you want to read it), and we talked about how when there's a new stage production of "Guys and Dolls" or "Phantom of the Opera" or "Cats" or whatever, no one gripes about how Broadway doesn't have original ideas. Why are movies different?
Having said that, I do tire of the endless barrage of remakes too, but look at it like this: at least you know there's a solid chance they're going to bring the original film back with a new version on DVD. You can show the noobs who think the remakes are the greatest thing since the little plastic things on the end of shoelaces the original and yell "SCOREBOARD" when it's over.
