Ahh, I knew that was 'Rorschach' from Watchmen as soon as I saw his face. He looks a tad like Martin Short sometimes.

I've never been a huge fan of the Nightmare series mainly because I've always detested dream sequences in films or dreams that can be made into anything to confuse the viewer. I realize though that this is what makes Freddie unique and so I may start off being more leniant to this remake than the previous one. Actually, I think I really only saw the original and parts of Freddie vs Jason.

Cautiously optimistic. Liked the trailer (and loved the look at pre-death Freddy) and the rehash of some of the original scenes. This one is big for me, because the first few Nightmares (well, 1 and 3, and 4 to a lesser degree) in some ways are horror movie perfection: mainstream enough to entertain most everyone, but really imaginative and trippy because of the dreams, and scary because Freddy at the time was scary. He was really one of the first of the sarcastic villains, and I don't think he gets enough credit for that.

I seem to hear some people are talking about a trailer. Where is it? Cause it's not on IMDB and there are no trailers or videos yet listed there.

aawwwwwwwww man. why dont filmakers try something new? i know iknow its a ploy to make money. if you bring back a film and character that everybody knows and say you have updated it made it scarier, oh and dont forget the cgi the sheeple will flock to the theaters. for me robert englund is the one and only Freedy. that being said i WILL watch this one, if i dont see it how can i blast it

I think this looks terrible, it's just so unoriginal and over-produced. I hate how all these modern b-list filmmakers are dumping on great classic horror films. These type of films are being mass-produced, and they all blow.

Here's where I saw it, from the good ol boys in Austin:

One, Two, Freddy's on YouTube. Three, four, Click For More! -- Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

Here's my take on remaking horror franchises: why not? Honestly, as much as Zombie's Halloween 2 stank, did it do any more damage to Michael Myers, than, say, Halloween 5, when he took off his mask and looked like a preteen Danielle Harris? Or when Busta Rhymes kicked his ass?

To me, Friday and Freddy and Halloween especially are fine for remaking, just because there have been so many sequels and reimaginings (New Nightmare, H20, Jason X, FvJ) that it's virtually another sequel. And it's kind of fun to see a new take on it, even if it does stink (TCM, the Zombie Halloweens).

I interviewed the director of "Fame" a couple of weeks back (it's on my site if you want to read it), and we talked about how when there's a new stage production of "Guys and Dolls" or "Phantom of the Opera" or "Cats" or whatever, no one gripes about how Broadway doesn't have original ideas. Why are movies different?

Having said that, I do tire of the endless barrage of remakes too, but look at it like this: at least you know there's a solid chance they're going to bring the original film back with a new version on DVD. You can show the noobs who think the remakes are the greatest thing since the little plastic things on the end of shoelaces the original and yell "SCOREBOARD" when it's over.

That is a really impressive trailer. It actually looks scary. I especially like that their including the scene where the parents kill Fred Krueger. After seeing the trailer I might go see it in theaters. I just hope it doesn't disappoint like the remake of Friday the 13th. And I hope this film gives us a sense of conclusion because the ending of the original sucked and I really don't want to see the other six Nightmare on Elm Street movies remade.
