Every year I feel awkward celebrating the 4th of July, or Independence Day, because P'lite is British. There seems to be lots of British people here on MoVa so I thought I would ask. How do you feel when your American friends celebrate kicking your pommy bums back across the pond. Lol.

Is it an insult?
Is it awkward?
Does it annoy you?
Do you think we should stop?
Should we change the name of it to "Cultural Equality Day" and invite everyone in the world to celebrate it with us?
How do you feel?
Why would something that happened centuries ago halfway round the world bother me?

I always know its Independence Day though as it was my Dads birthday and is a friends birthday too. My Dad always used to joke that the whole of the US celebrates his birthday!

Thats the one , the brand she has is Fries or something like that-her old man used to put just butter on his but Karen my wife always has cheese on hers , she loves cheese.

We also have Bolletje crispbakes in the house but it drives me nuts eating those things as crumbs go down my front all the time and of course the almond and chocolate hail she puts on bread or toast-you would have a field day if you came around here Tosti , its like you would never have left home.

And yes her mother makes that round Christmas cake thing with almond every year (They cost about $50.00 in the shops to buy here) but I have never liked that-would not tell her mother that though.

Huh. Interesting. Maybe I should celebrate the 4th Amsterdam window style. How do the windows work? Do you uhm.. play in the window with her for the whole world to see? Does she come out of the window or is the whole thing done behind glass? Do the drapes match the carpet? lol

Hmm... since no one minds the 4th of July this year I will pretend that every hot dog I eat is a British baby and every coke I drink is the sugary sweet blood of an Englishman. Huzzah! Maybe you would have won if you hadn't attacked us with fireworks and used canonballs instead.

From what I have heard from a couple of guys I know that have been to Amsterdam Sun is you go in give your money to the lady who then counts it puts it in this slot where I say they would have people in a back room that handle the cash and then you go to a back room to do your business-the Dutch have been very efficent with this system for years but yes this is my fault for getting off topic here so I must apologise for that.

I have always been interested in the 4th Of July so you must tell me a bit about that.

Basically, with a regular store you'd have a doll wearing clothes to show behind a window.
In Amsterdam you see woman sitting there, in red light (aka red light district).
Pick the one you like, walk in there (trough the door next to it) and close the curtains.

No I do not have experience with this myself
