Even then, it's not as horrible as the previous rules that discriminated against gays. For one thing, alot of them were the victims of beatings/hazings for admitting their sexuality, and "Don't ask, don't tell" did much to stop that. But now it's time to ban ALL prejudice against gays, and "Don't ask, don't tell" is too outdated to be practical for accomplishing that goal.

Thanks for the apology...I can understand terrible days...I have a lot of them.
I know Hollywood portrays the Military as nothing but a group of violent homophobes. However, you’d be hard pressed to prove “a lot of them were the victims of beatings/hazing” in comparison to the civilian world. I’m not saying it didn’t happen but it didn’t happen as often as Hollywood would like everyone to believe. It was and still is very easy to remove someone from the service for being gay/lesbian…far easier than taking a chance on losing your career for gay-bashing (violent and non-violent). |
