Okay you asked P-lite so you shall hear the story. BEWARE it may be lengthy!
I had with two baby teeth in which no adult teeth ever grew underneath them. As I got older my baby teeth sank into my gums so they just peeking through the gums. My denist built my teeth up so they would be the same size as the rest of my teeth. However he told us that they may not last for the rest of my life because they are baby teeth afterall.
Well they didn't at least one did not last.
I had braces on my teeth for 3 years. During that time it was very difficult to floss although I did try. Anyways at the end of the summer of my first year of university I go very sick, probably the sickest I have been in my whole life. It started out like a very bad cold. However it was much more then a cold. I had a headache that lasted 3 weeks with no break. During this time the headache also involved a back ache. I was in alot of pain along with my seemlly cold symptoms. Then I started to have night sweats. I would sweat so much that my whole pj's were soaked in sweat. Even my bed sheets needed to be changed because I was just soaked. I had a massive fever. I must say I did go to the doctor and the doctor said "there is nothing wrong with you, you just have a cold". I knew this was more then a cold though, because I don't typically soak my sheets and pjs with sweat when I have just a cold and have a head ache and back ache. After weeks of this I realized my mouth was also hurting. I went to the dentist after close to a month of this illness. I was informed that one of my baby teeth was absessed. However all that could be done was to take antibiotics. That would get rid of the infection that I currently have but if the tooth is not removed I will likely get infections over and over again. The tooth could not be removed though at this time because I still had braces on my mouth.
After my braces were finally removed, it was time to get rid of that tooth that had made me soo ill. I went in for surgery (since this tooth had sunk into my jaw bone). They removed my tooth and hoped to put in the the first stage of my implant but were unable too because I did not have enough bone in the area. Instead they gave me a bone graft, and I would have to have another surgery for the first part of my implant to go in.
I healed up fairly well between the first surgery and the second one the second part of the implant was put in.
I must say the surgeries were not as easy as pie to recover from there was the normal post op pain as well as the not so pleasant fact the anasethic caused me to loose alot of my hair (but my hair is thick so it was not that noticable).
During my third surgery (the first two I had retrograde anasthesia) I opted to go for local anathetic since it was suppose to be fairly minor in comparison. I was in horror though that the surgeon did not wear a mask during the surgery. This was the most painful surgery and I was in pain from the moment the needles went in till about three weeks after. It was around boxing day, and was healing and it was a few weeks after surgery, I was still hurting but I had gone to see a movie with a friend. My mouth started bleeding and didn't stop bleeding for about 15 mintues. I didn't think too much off it until it did the same thing when I got home, except this time it bled longer. It did this all boxing day evening on and off. This is not a normal thing for 3 weeks post op mouth surgery. Around midnight I had been in bed and I woke up and it was bleeding again, and lots. My mom finally decided to take me to the ER. It was busy that night and we waited until the morning. I never did get to see a doctor because they were too busy and I was not enough of a priority. My mom took me home early morning after waiting hours and hours, with a large amount of gauze, the nurses solution to my problem. I saw the surgeon a few hours late and guess what I had an infection. I got antibiotics and got better, but that was an experince from hell.
I still have one baby tooth. However now my implant or the gum around it looks like it might be infected. It is just a little sore.
