A battery hog is something that hogs your battery i.e. an application that uses up a lot of battery when in use.

They're hated here too I won't be ticketing very often though as I don't work night shift, only when residents complain of someone parked in their spot (private property after all) or some dumbass decides visitor parking is too far and leaves his car in front for half hour.

Today I'm going to work on my birthday gifts for my girlfriend. Card is almost finished, it's raining so I can't really do most of the rest of the gift seeing as it involves taking a picture in nice weather (it's raining)

It's your own fault though for not getting a ticket from the machine, not getting back in time and so on...

Oo question - If you leave your car somewhere properly, and later in the day get knocked over by a bus and taken to hospital therefore not able to get back to your car, are you let off the fine if you can prove where you were?

That depends on what it's like where you are in terms of first attendance (if you have it) or whether you just have to go to court. It really depends on whether the person you talk to is a dick about it or not. They could throw it out entirely but I can guarantee you they'll at least reduce the fine to almost nothing (if the system there is anything like it is here).
