Alert: Major Problem With The Site

Okay guys.. I couldn't sleep last night because I was so freaking scared.

Here's the issue. We apparantly became so famous and got so much traffic that our bandwidth has gone through the roof. This is a very bad thing.

Two years ago we switched to a new host (our current one) DreamHost, which is a very good host, great service and uptime, etc. I had to switch because of the 'porn traffic' month which 'blew' our server.

Our current hosting plan we're on now gives us a monthly maximum bandwidth of 30 gigs a month. Each gigabyte of bandwidth over that costs us 8 bucks.

We are averaging 6 gigs a DAY now. Yesterday we had over 12,000 UNIQUE HITS to our site. This is amazing.

However, on our current host, this will make me go to jail because I cannot pay this bill.

There are 2 solutions I can see:

1. Get a new, even bigger host. This will cost more per month, but the biggest problem is that it will take a long time and the biggest pain in the ass you could ever imagine anything in your life doing: converting the entire site to a new host. The forum, all the reviews, the database, the scripts, everything.

2. Stop the site. Change the front page to 1 blank page saying we are running out of bandwidth and need donations, etc.

#2 Isn't viable. We need a new host.

We've used 12 gigs so far - meaning we have 2 or 3 days left of bandwidth.. so we need to do this quick..

How much will a new, even biggher host cost? Are all movie websites so expensive to run? Maybe Gdude knows someone cheaper? Why are we being penalized for becoming popular? $500 is too much a month!

PLite - I'm looking at new hosts now.. I think I can get something for $50 a month that will give us a few hundred gigs of bandwidth..

I just need to know if i should get a new host.. because it will take us at least a few days to get the site back up.. (probably a week)

That is alreight. We can wait for the new website getting fixed uo wid the new host for as long as it takes. Will the forums go down too? Sniff. ANd Pigsnie can still contribute some here & there.

PLite - yes, the entire site would go down... unless we set up the other server first.. then you wouldn't even notice a change..

as for Pigsnie, no.. no donations please. That would only help us temporarily. We need a new host. Simple as that. It will be a bigger and stronger host.. Zeeshan and I are hunting for a good one right now..

I've been searching for hours so far.. haven't really found anything that we can use.. HostWay has a good package, but only offers a 10mb mysql line.. and theres some bandwidth issues with them..

I might even invest and get us a dedicated server..

Is that the reason why the links to the reviews don't work in the Search Engine? The Search Engine itself works, but the links are not appearing.

You guys notice how the site is slowly dying out like a dimming bulb? It sill soon go offline...
