Rich in history and devoted to creating powerful, quality films, United Artists was built by artists for artists whose passion and vision have thrilled audiences around the world with some of the finest motion pictures of all time. Sharing a 90th Anniversary with Panasonic, United Artists joins this great technology company, together with the American Film Institute, to present a selection of best titles from the United Artists library. This unique, one-time only event on theater screens in major cities nationwide highlights some of the great United Artists films currently available at Best Buy. To those seeing these beloved films again and those experiencing them for the first time, United Artists and its partners welcome you to the United Artists 90th Anniversary Film Festival.
“From its founding ninety years ago by four of the most gifted artists of their time, United Artists recognized the power of movies and created a studio where filmmakers could see their visions realized. The films included in this festival are just a small sample of UA's illustrious history.” – Tom Cruise, Co-owner, United Artists
“Tom and I are very proud to present, along with the American Film Institute, the United Artists 90th Anniversary Film Festival. It's both an honor and a pleasure to pay tribute to the talent, inspiration, and craft reflected in the nearly 1,000 films that comprise the UA library. These movies shaped the way we see cinema today, and it is our goal to live up to the rich legacy of UA by creating an artist-friendly environment where filmmakers can thrive.” – Paula Wagner, Chief Executive Officer, United Artists
“The American Film Institute is proud to be part of this landmark celebration of the 90 years of United Artists, a company founded by the pioneers of American film and now led into the future by two of our nation’s great artists – Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner. They understand and appreciate the power of movies to inspire, to enlighten and entertain, and ultimately, to bring us all together to share our common humanity. So whether you are here to discover, or re-discover, one of these many classic films, do so with applause for the artists – and United Artists. Now let’s go to the movies!” – Bob Gazzale, AFI President & CEO
