Dimension Films Announces Additions To "Youth In Revolt"

Cannes, France (May 20, 2008)– Dimension Films announced today at the Cannes Film Festival the cast of “Youth in Revolt,” the cutting-edge comedy helmed by Miguel Arteta (“Chuck and Buck,” “The Good Girl”) and starring Michael Cera (“Superbad,” “Juno,” “Arrested Development”). Joining the previously announced Cera are Ray Liotta (“Smoking Aces,” “Narc,” “Goodfellas”), Jean Smart (“I Heart Huckabees,” “Lucky You,” “Samantha Who”) and M. Emmet Walsh (“Fletch,” “Blood Simple,” “Man in the Chair”).

"Youth in Revolt” is one of the top sales priorities for TWC at Cannes where the company is launching an aggressive plan for the film’s international distribution. The screenplay, written by Gustin Nash, Arteta and Cera, is based on the book “Youth in Revolt” by C.D Payne, which became an underground sensation and garnered a youthful cult following throughout the world. The novel has been published in multiple countries, staged as a play, broadcast over the radio and has been the subject of countless fan-based Web sites.

“Youth in Revolt” will be a co-production between Permut Presentations and Shangri-La Entertainment with David Permut serving as producer and Steve Longi, Vice president of production at Permut Presentations co-producing along with Miranda Freiberg. The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films.

“Youth in Revolt” is the irreverent story about the wild adventures of a teenage boy named Nick Twisp who meets the girl of his dreams while on a family vacation and has to turn his life and the lives of all those around him upside down in order to be with her.

“Youth in Revolt” is part of Dimension's diverse upcoming slate which features cutting-edge comedies like "Soul Men" directed by award-winning filmmaker Malcolm Lee ("The Best Man," "Undercover Brother," "Roll Bounce") and starring Samuel L.
