The first of the most successful and longest running series ever is no different then its offspring has been over the four decades. It starts and practices the bond formula that has lived within all the films. The money penny flirt, the bond girl, the briefing from m, and the infiltrating of Bond's opposite's lair. All these appear first in this film. But missing is the strange Q thought up gadget. Instead bond only has his berretta replaced with a ppk and has to rely on his own intelligence and strength to help him prevail. The first bond but this is no exception, Dr. No is just what you're expecting.
In this one of many adventures to come Bond must discover what happened to a missing agent in Jamacia.He soon finds out it there is connection with the death and the numinous Dr. No. Bond cautiously lands on the island of to discover the identity of this strange Doctor. There he gets involved with a girl and a plan that is bigger than killing only a couple agents.
As I have mentioned this movie is neither better nor worse then the others only what you would expect. The bare plot with few moments of character development and an easy chick. Bond is portrayed a little different though. He gets his first and only beating. Bond is not invincible in this one, if that is truly believable. This is an action film but lacking. Besides a simple car chase, some shoot outs and a lazy ending the film isn't energetic. Dr. No is worth it for the Bond fans but not all that grabbing for the spy thriller fans.
