First it was "Scream", followed by "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and then "Urban Legends", but now we've got yet another film which perfectly fits into the horror genre started by Scream, and as all previous attemps to duplicate it, it failed. In this kind of films I'm never able to tell the story line in a very long way, but I'll try, so here it goes.
Four young women who've been friends since they were in school start receiving morbid valentine letters, which they suspect are comming from a boy who they treated with cruelty back in 6th grade. They think it could be him taking revenge now, but nothing is completely sure as he/she starts killing people.
It's physically impossible for me to write more than that about the story. This teenage horror flicks from the 90's and the start of this new millenium are always the same, it's always a group of hot young people who start getting murdered by a someone whose identity is unknown and it could be any of the guys in the film. One difference I found on this film is the fact that the victims are girls, which was actually a good thing since they were all kinda pretty.
This film has the same characteristics the previous horror films had; one that I think it's quite cool but it's beggining to get way too common is the usage of strong sounds, sometimes mixed with a scream, just when everything is silent. If that happens and you're watching the film in the big screen then you'll be shocked for a second, not really because it's scary but because it happened so quickly.
I noticed that even though the killer seems to use his knife more than anything, he actually uses different weapons to kill some of the victims, while in films like Scream, I Know [..] and Urban Legends the killer always uses the same weapon; now that's what I call being original! [Being a bti sarcastic there..] I'm not a big fan of this kind of flicks, but I must say at least it's entertaining and fun to watch, specially in theaters. But the story in this kind of films almost always sucks, and so does the acting. Also the fact that you never see clues or anything that could lead you to discover who the killer is annoys me. It's not that bad, has a surprising ending, but still I wouldn't recommend it.
