In the world of movies there is a very common kind of film which isn't great and it's not bad either, it's the kind of film that after you finish watching you'd probably say "It was OK" and 2 days later you won't even remember you saw it. Christian Slater has been in many of those, this being one of them. Of course that having a good cast saved it from being worse.
A dam in a small town is has an accident which lets a large ammount of water pass through, flooding the town and forcing all it's residents to leave. Tom (Christian Slater) and his uncle Charlie (Edward Asner) work for a money transport company and their job is to transfer the money from the banks in the town, so there's about 3 million dollars in the back of their truck. They are forced to stop after the truck can't go through the road filled with water, and some robbers leaded by Jim (Morgran Freeman) attemp to steal the money. A guy from Jim's crew kills Charlie, although Jim didn't want that to happen, then Tom is able to hide the money and run away.
While Tom is running away he finds Karen (Minnie Driver), a woman who refused to leave the church she was restoring, but as soon as she sees Tom she knocks him out and takes him to the Sheriff. After Tom wakes up and tells the Sheriff the situation, he (Randy Quaid) wants to take some of this money, so he calls his buddy Hank who was at the dam, and they will fight with Jim and his crew in order to get the money. So now it's only Tom and Karen against everyone else.
In the process of trying to find the money the action in the film is pretty good, at least it entertained me a bit. Typical performances by Slater and Driver; Freeman was great as always, he was one of the facts that saved this film from hitting bottom. It's a great action flick but if you are looking for some entertainment then it might work. A bit unusual the fact that the entire film developes in a flooded town, but at least you get to see some Jet Ski action.
