A surreal satire of a typical Long Island family, which is, headed my two parents whose love overshadowed their education. This is portrayed and executed well in the film. The idea than relieves a realistic feel to the film along with the stereotypical station wagon and rebellious teenage daughter. A film of clichés and stereotypes but all needed to create a successful parody.
Eliza, the daughter out of the house living with husband finds a love note possibly to her husband. She ventures to her mothers house for security where her mother has them embark on an adventure through New York to seek the truth.. This is not a road trip film but rather Suburbia meets (insert road trip film).
Ingenious satirical humor and realistic dialogue. The characters stay true to their stereotypical selves and the entire dysfunctional family is developed at a perfect pace, climbing to the explosive climax in the end. The film is also original and the costumes simple yet another piece in the puzzle in reaching the goal in the satirical comedy. The film ends without a laugh as it seeps into more of a dramatic pose but along the ride it will give you quite a few laughs as you realize you might know some of these people.
The film has nothing spectacular or to brag openly about. The film is simple and it creates comedy out of something simple. The acting though is not simple but complex in displaying accurate characters. A well done indie film not only for the indie crowd.
