Jacob Schram (Ben Stiller), Brian Kilkenney Finn (Edward Norton) and Anna Riley (Jenna Elfman) were three best friends when little kids. As they grew up, each one took his own choices, and they ended up in pretty different situations. Jake (Jacob) becomes a rabbi, Brian becomes a priest, and Anna a business woman. All the problems start when the 2 men fall in love with her, and each one has to deal with his own problems.
Rabbi Jake has to get married, but he cannot marry Anna because she isn't jewish. Father Brian really likes her, but he cannot break his promise of celibacy. Until certain scene, Anna doesn't seem to show any feelings toward any of the men, of course that would change later.
Since Jake needs to get married, and he is a well known rabbi, every jewish family in town tries to get their daughter to be his bride. But most of them are ridiculous in certain way, it's pretty funny. Brian is also confused because he doesn't know what to do. It is also funny to see them acting together, because Jake doesn't know Brian likes Anna, and viceversa.
Edward Norton is not only one of the best actors around, he showed some very good directing skills in this film. The acting is very good by everyone, the three main characters and others, like Anne Bancroft as Jake's mother. The story is pretty cool, I don't think I've seen anything like this before, was quite enjoyable.
I am not a big fan of romantic films, and I think this is not it. This is a romantic comedy, which is different. Without the superb cast and the comedy, it would probably have been bad, but thanks to that it's a great film. I hope Norton directs another film, the young man has got skills. And he can act really well, some say he is the next De Niro. Be sure to check this one out, you're probably not going to be disappointed.
