There is a train that loses it's breaks and can't be stopped, which happens to be carrying a nuclear bomb inside. John Segere (Rob Lowe) decides to get into the train, so he takes a helicopter which drops him right on top of the train. He does everything he can to stop it, but things aren't going to well. He tells his wife to take his daughter and son somewhere else, because if the train explotes, the whole area could be affected. Everyone is working on this, even the president is very concerned. Since the city of Denver is being evacuated, everyone is going crazy and several problems occur.
There are many problems with this film. Lets start by asking ourselves when was the last time we saw Rob Lowe in a good film? I know, I know. This film exaggerates everything to the maximun extent, just because the city is being evacuated doesn't mean people are going to start driving themselves totally crazy as seen in here, it just looks ridiculous. Also, everything that can go wrong, does go wrong, and even when you think it's all going to be OK, another problem appears. The whole train story, which wasn't that bad at first, is totally ruined after a while. The acting is pretty bad I must say, and I don't have the slightest clue about why in the world did Mena Suvari take this role? Well, maybe she wasn't that well known back in 1999, before "American Beauty". I only recognized one more member of the cast, Edward Herrmann, who played the United States President.
This film is a complete disaster. It's not really boring, but it's just dull and annoying. To see the dumb way in which everything goes wrong is very unpleasant, and on top of that the film is rather long. This story, if it was ever going to be made, should have been about 40 minutes shorter. This movie is a failure from every single point of view you could possibly take, it has every possible reason to suck and I'd say it's a miracle that I went through all of it. Please try to avoid, don't waste your time on this.
