Mike Church (Kenneth Branagh) is a private investigator who takes a case about a woman suffering from amnesia who doesn't even remember who she is, and nobody recognizes her. He calls her Grace, but later he finds out her name is Amanda Sharp (Emma Thompson). They decide to take her to the owner of an antiques shop, Franklyn Madson (Derek Jacobi), who is able to hypnotize people. In each hypnosis session they are trying to find out why Grace keeps having nightmares about Margaret Strauss getting murdered by his husband Roman Strauss, who was later convicted with death sentence, in the late 1940's. In each session they keep finding more interesting facts that even get to involve Mike. Mr. Church goes several times to talk to a guy who used to be a doctor, Cozy Carlisle (Robin Williams) and asks him about this kind of stuff. The doctor -who works at a supermarket- seems to have experience with that kind of stuff and tells him what to do. Mike also goes to visit Gray Baker (Andy García) who was a reporter back in the time where Mrs. Strauss died, and had some contact with her and her husband some time before the incident happened. Mike keeps putting clues and info together and finally finds out the truth, but now he has to save himself and Grace. I wouldn't want to give many details about the film; due to the way it developes, giving a little bit more information in a review could spoil it for you. It's an exiting thriller which developes in a mysterious way and keeps you entertained the whole time, you're always wondering what's gonna happen next, and there are also quite a few surprises. The acting by all actors was pretty good, even though Derek Jacobi annoyed me a little bit. Brannagh also directed the film, and I must say he did a good job. The film makes us wonder if there really is another life waiting for us after we die. I think you should check it out if possible.
