How many of you like Sylvester Stallone? I'm sure you all love the legendary Rocky Balboa. You don't see him star in too many comedies. He should definitely do many more. Oscar was terrific. And even before he did Oscar (way back in 1984), he did Rhinestone. This movie is way underrated. People hated this movie and they hated Sly Stone for this. I don't know why. This film is hilarious. I love it. It's that Sly Stone humor. It's so dry and dumb. He has you laughing at everything. His movements, his words, and just his actions will have you on the ground laughing. Well, that is how I was.
Here is where many of you will say "screw this movie, it will suck." Well, it's a country film. It's all about country music. Here is the plot. Dolly Parton (that's right, Dolly Parton stars in this also), plays a country artist playing at a bar in NYC whose owner owns her contract. She has talent and can go places, but the owner screws her because he wants her there. So, they put on a bet that if she can take an ordinary guy and turn him around and sing country in front of the rough bar crowd (and they like it), she can have her contract torn up with that club owner. And who is that ordinary guy? Yep, Sylvester Stallone. Right from the beginning, Stallone's comedy comes in. He is so hilarious. I know most of you are saying "country music, screw that." But think about it, Sylvester Stallone singing country music, Sylvester Stallone dressed up like a cowboy, and Sylvester Stallone talking like a country dude. If you can't think of the comedy in that, then you need to take a jump off of a cliff into a pack of wolves.
Overall, it's a good movie with some good acting and a good plot. Sylvester Stallone is hilarious. That is all that needs to be said. Dolly Parton wasn't really acting. She was sort of in her natural element. But I must say, she was one hot piece of tail in that film. Skin tight clothes, huge breasts, and a huge ass are all very appealing.
The Lowdown
Even though it is about country music and whatnot, it is a good film. It is much better than what other people say about it. Sly Stone is a funny cowboy and Dolly Parton is looking all hot. I'd play hide the salami with her. It has good acting (by Stallone), a good plot (yes, it is pretty damn good), and it is just freaking hilarious to see Sylvester Stallone singing country music. I think everyone should experience this film.
