Friday

     Ice Cube (Three Kings, Boyz N The Hood) and Chris Tucker (Rush Hour, Jackie Brown) play Craig and Smokey, just two guys that want to hang out on a Friday. Craig has managed to lose his job while on his day off, and Smokey earned his nick name because he deals Marijuana for Big Worm (Faizon Love; Meteor Man, Money Talks) who is not only the local supplier, but also has a day job driving a sandwich and snack truck.

The plan to spend the day on the porch watching their Los Angeles neighborhood starts out easily enough, but things quickly get complicated for these two when Big worm drives up in his truck and demands his profit from Smokey, who has been far too busy smoking the supply to sell it. When he tells Big Worm he doesn’t have all of the money, Worm demands to know why and so Smokey blames his good friend Craig. Now the two have to come up with money by that evening or face the wrath of the Worm.

Matters are further twisted when Debo (Tom ‘Tiny’ Lister Jr; The Player’s Club, Jackie Brown) who is the local bully, shows up to shake the Craig and Smokey down for whatever money or valuables they might have. When their pockets turn out empty, Debo forces Smokey to break into a neighbors house.

This movie is really fats paced, and I really can’t do the entire plot justice here without taking away the element of comedic surprise. With characters like the crack addicted Ezal (Anthony Johnson; The Great White Hype, Hoover Park) who will do anything for “two dollahs” or the amazingly foul Mr Jones, Craig’s Father (John Witherspoon; Little Nicky, Fatal Instinct),this movie had me laughing from the beginning to the end.

This is the perfect movie for drinking beer with friends. If you are in the mood to laugh, get Friday!
