Dade Murphy a.k.a. Crash Override (Johnny Lee Miller) started commiting cyber crimes at age 11, when he damaged 1500 computers. He wasn't allowed to use a computer for several years, but when he started again, he started infiltrating into other systems to make a mess with it.

One of his hacker friends discovers some 'worm' in a company's databse and copies part of it. That company happened to have a pretty good security guy, 'The Plague' (Fisher Stevens) who tells Dade if he doesn't hand him the disk with the info he'll change some files in the FBI's database in order to screw him up. The worm created by the Plague was going to be used to generate big money for him, but the hackers are going to try to stop him.

Dade and female hacker Kate Libby (Angelina Jolie) are starting some kind of relationship through all of this. Other hackers that help Dade are Cereal Killer (Matthew Lillard), Lord Nikon (Lawrence Mason) and Phreak (Renoly Santiago). The whole group of hackers decide to start disturbing the life of an officer of the law who was against hackers, and they do all sort of things to him by hacking into places and changing some info, for example saying he was dead already.

The acting here was OK, and the story was very exiting but it was far from believable. They make it look like just anyone could do that stuff as easily as it's shown in here. It'd be also out of date right now because it came out in 1995, so a 28.8k modem -which was the best back then- is now obsolete. Pretty entertaining film but it could get some serious fantasies into kid's heads. Non-computer people wouldn't enjoy it. Should be watched by itnernet users, specially young ones, it wont be a waste of time, but don't expect too much, just average.
