If anything this movie should get an award for having one of the most betraying previews of all time. It's surprising that they found enough scenes from this BORING movie to make it seem exciting! Why do I keep falling for the same old trick the studios try to pull? Good trailer - Bad movie.
The movie never really bothers to carry a story because there is no story. matt Damon plays Mr. Ripley who is hired by an old man to bring his son back from Rome. In the process he becomes gay and kills The guy in a fit of homosexual rage. At least that's what I think happened, this movie was so dull it was hard to pay attention to what the movie was saying. Matt Damon is not on of my favorite actors. he was good in Good Will Hunting, but that was about it. Jude Law isn't that good in this movie either. He looks sickly anorexic and his acting is blatantly dull and boring. Gwenyth Paltrow, is... well, Gwenyth, I never really did like her.
This movie was hideous! It made no sense, nor did it try to. the script was one of the worst ever written, with atrociously poor character delveopment, and this is a character movie! Don't watch this movie, save yourself some time.
