It seems to me like John Hughes wrote this script just because he was bored and didn't have a better thing to do. Why? Why another sequel to Home Alone? Knowing for sure that it'll be worse than the previous 2 films? We'll never get an answer for that.
It all starts with the good old "bags that look the same" changeup when Mrs. Hess (Marian Seldes) picks up a bag at the airport that looks like the one she had, but it's not the one she had. When she gets back home he asks a little boy from the neighborhood, Alex Pruitt (Alex D. Linz), to clean the snow from the front of the house, so he does, and Mrs. Hess decides to give him a remote control car she had found in that bag she picked up. It turns out that the car has some sort of chip inside it, very valuable, and some bad guys are going to try to find it.
I've never seen them before, don't think it's worth mentioning their names. But it's just the usual stuff, a kid who thinks like an adult, who's smarter than everyone, and just as in the previous films, he has to defend his house from bad guys. In this case there are four of them, that's twice the ammount there was in the previous films, but still Alex managed to beat them.
Making this movie was a huge mistake. Macaulay Culkin was way better as Kevin MacCallister than this little Alex kid was as Alex. (What a wuss, he couldn't even have his real name changed!) Also Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are impossible to replace, the bad guys in this film sucked. And of course, a factor that made the first 2 films so great was all the things Kevin did to the bandits, so in here Alex has to do the same thing, but again, it fails in it's purpose. So, all 3 things: The boy, the bandits and the final scenes where the bandits suffer, sucked. While the first two films could have been watched for people of any age, this is just for kids under 8 years old in my opinion, if you're older than that, don't waste your time on this.
